Jim Murphy, M.MFT., LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Jim Murphy received his Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and earned his undergraduate degree in business at Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas.  Jim is licensed in the State of Texas as a Marriage & Family Therapist.  He is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT).

Jim has a heart for helping couples prepare for marriage, overcome challenges, and thrive in their marriages.  He also has clinical interests in family dynamics, grief and loss, separation and divorce, spiritual and self-esteem concerns, educational goal attainment, personal finance concerns, and career change/job hunt challenges.

Joshua enjoys working with families, couples, and individuals.  His special interest includes marital and couple issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment phase of life issues, sexual issues, spirituality, and wellness. Mariah Spengler, PhD, LPC

Mariah Spengler received her BA in Psychology from Furman University, MS in Kinesiology from University of Indiana, M.ED in Counseling from Vanderbilt University, and PhD in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida.

Shawn McCowan, MA, LPC-Intern

Shawn McCowan earned his Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor is licensed to practice in the state of Texas.

 

As a retired Air Force Veteran with 20 years of service, Shawn gained firsthand insight into the special challenges faced by our nation's service members. 

 

His combination of faith, knowledge, experience, and education allows him to help others explore, understand, and communicate the web of thoughts and feelings that drive our decisions and actions, both beneficial and harmful.  Shawn specializes in individuals, couples, and families experiencing high conflict, as well as veterans issues including PTSD.

Haley Sechelski, MA, LMFT-Associate

Haley Sechelski received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University, and her undergraduate degree in Health Education from Texas A&M University. Jo enjoys working with adult individuals.  She is a Brainspotting practitioner (level 1) and certified Enneagram trainer.  Her clinical interests include spiritual formation through the lens of the Enneagram, supporting people as they transition through various life stages, and helping people overcome difficulties with self-esteem, relationships, and emotions.

Mark Weedon, MFT Student

Marriage and Family Therapy Student

Mark is a practicum student at Amridge University and is approved to practice marriage and family therapy under the supervision of Shaun Burrow, PhD, LMFT-Supervisor (#201019).  He will receive his MA-MFT in December 2020.  He has a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Trident University, Bachelor’s of Science in Business from Franklin University, and an Associates of Applied Science from Central Texas College.

Mark is a 29-year retired Command Sergeant Major in the Army. He has traveled the world with some of the best service members on the planet conducting a multitude of operations, often in austere environments.  This experience helps shape his perspective on life, relationships, and the pursuit of happiness.  His passion is helping individuals, couples, and families find balance, mutual respect, and long-lasting happiness.  Mark’s clinical interests include the military/veteran community, relationship issues, issues of infidelity, PTSD, and family harmony.

Laura Bauer, MSW, LMSW

Laura received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas - Little Rock and her undergraduate in Health Sciences from Texas A&M University. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Texas.

Laura enjoys working with both couples and individuals. Her interests include depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, adjustment phase of life issues, addictions and family members impacted by addictions, spirituality, and family members coping with special needs. Laura is passionate about assisting couples to thrive in their marriage relationship rather than simply surviving.

Her therapy approach is client driven and based on specified goals given by the client. Laura enjoys using cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.

Parker Guram, MS, LPC-Intern

Licensed Professional Counselor Intern 

 

Parker Guram obtained his bachelor degree in Psychology at Texas State University and then His Master Degree in Counseling psychology at Angelo State University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor intern licensed to practice in Texas under the supervision of Robert Jones LPC-Supervisor (#12645). 

 

Parker practices primarily from a Biblical counseling approach that he integrates with other evidence based theories such as CBT, DBT, CPT. He is certified by the Association of Biblical Counseling but also has experience in Career counseling, and Inpatient hospitalization.

 

He enjoys working with young men ages 20-30s and adolescent males but also wants to help any person with any struggle.  He focuses on helping people in their careers, with emotional struggles involving anxiety, depression, anger, singleness, relationship issues, trauma, OCD, and addictions both sexual, and chemical. 

 

Parker is single, is activity involved in his church and is pursuing his role in world missions.

Emily Burrow, M.MFT, LMFT-Associate

Emily Burrow received her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University and her BS in Mathematics from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is licensed to practice in Texas under the supervision of Mee-Gaik Lim, Ph.D.,LMFT-Supervisor (#1642).

Emily has a heart for working with individuals, couples and families. She enjoys working with elementary-aged children and adolescents and provides support for their parents and families. Emily practices from a Strategic Family Systems approach and examines how a child’s behavior functions to communicate something about the system in which they live. She collaborates with parents to help them learn to “speak kid” so that they can begin to look beyond the symptoms of the behavior to discern the motivating force that drives it.

Kacie Adair, BA

Kacie Adair is working towards her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regent University .  She will be graduating in May, 2020. Kacie is under the supervision of Shaun Burrow, PhD, LPC-Supervisor (#63973), LMFT-Supervisor (#201019).

Kacie is currently working part time in the AMCCC office while she finishes her degree.

Kathleen Yoakum, Office Manager

Kathleen is the first face you see when you come into the office.

 

She will assist you with appointment scheduling, payments, and answer any questions you have about your visit.  She has lived in College Station since 1998 and loves Aggieland.  She has been married 49 years with 2 married children and 6 grandchildren.
